Desert cacti prefer direct and strong sunlight with well drained soil. They store their water in there fleshy stems and protect themselves with spines. Despite being a low water plant, they love regular watering and fertilizer provided they have enough soil aeration. Small plants benefit from soil with higher moisture but larger plants prefer more rocky and dry soil.
